Custom Template for GoodNotes
GoodNotes is a great note taking app and overs some great templates you can use for your notes. If the free templates are not enough you can buy some bundles of different templates; but alternativley you can just create your own templates!
Creating a GoodNotes Template with Affinity Publisher
You can use any tool with which you can create a PDF, in this case I will use Affinity Publisher v2. Affinity Publisher is a great tool to create flyers, PDFs, books, and other things. You can download a free trial version with the full functionality from their website.
Creating a new file
Start Affinity Publisher and create a new document. Depending on the size of your device you may want to change the dimensions of the document to something that fits your use case.
Creating the template
You usually don’t need to be a PRO in any of the tools to create a nice template. For the template I created I used the following tools in Publisher:
- Artistic Text Tool
- Pen Tool (for lines)
- Shape Tool (for rectangles, circles, …)
Export as PDF
After you created your own template you can then export it as PDF. In Affinity Publisher you can do so by selecting File > Export … or press ⌥⌘⇧S.
Import the PDF into GoodNotes
- click on the add page button
- click on “Import” at the bottom
- select your PDF
